{"id":3856,"date":"2025-08-11T05:06:50","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T05:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bhtf.bt\/?p=3856"},"modified":"2025-08-11T05:06:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T05:06:50","slug":"bhutan-health-trust-fund-25-years-of-health-equity-and-national-commitment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bhtf.bt\/?p=3856","title":{"rendered":"Bhutan Health Trust Fund: 25 Years of Health Equity and National Commitment"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"xdj266r x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Bhutan Health Trust Fund: 25 Years of Health Equity and National Commitment<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Yesterday, the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister and Hon\u2019ble Health Minister joined the Bhutan Health Trust Fund\u2019s Silver Jubilee celebrations \u2014a landmark occasion that coincides with the 70th Birth Anniversary of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty Jigme Singye Wangchuck whose benevolent vision and foresight gave birth to the Fund.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Formally established on 3rd August 2000 under the Royal Charter, the Bhutan Health Trust Fund (BHTF) continues to finance essential medicines and vaccines ensuring uninterrupted access to primary health services for Bhutanese from all walks of life, for all times.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">As we celebrate the Silver Jubilee of BHTF, we offer our deepest gratitude to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo for this priceless gift to the people of Bhutan, and to Lyonpo Sangay Ngedup, who rallied behind this noble vision to bring it to fruition.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Over the past 25 years, the Fund has disbursed over Nu. 3.7 billion, supporting the procurement of 430 essential medicines and four vaccines\u2014contributing to Bhutan\u2019s globally applauded high immunization coverage. It has not only helped keep our children healthy and disease free but also played a critical role in eliminating polio, rubella and measles. Annually, approximately Nu. 557 million is allocated for the procurement of essential drugs and vaccines.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Fund\u2019s strength is rooted in a visionary model: one that blends financial prudence with national solidarity. The resources are sustained through interest accrued from strategic investments, both locally and offshore, further supported by the 1% health contribution from our working citizens; and through generous donations from individuals and institutions. This matching mechanism is not merely financial\u2014it is a reflection of our shared values and collective resolve.
